Loved this travel book--probably one of the best I've got in my travel "library." Good balance of photos and helpful information. Nice size to take with us, including maps of both streets and transit options.
Concise reference, have only skimmed it so far but appears to provide a nice overview. Fodor's are generally solid, have no reason to expect anything different in this format. Large enough to be useful, small enough to travel well.
I have always used Fodor Travel Guides when I go to Europe. I find them informative, easy to read and concise. My only suggestion would be with regard to price ranges of things (ie. entrance fees). I would like to see more breakdowns of price. Their “high†price range has too large of a range to be helpful. Perhaps a range such as between $5-$10, $10-$15, $15-$20, etc. would be more effective in determining whether to visit a certain place or not. I know that prices are subject to change, but it would at least give a clearer picture of what visiting a particular place will cost me.
Like any guide, some of the recommendations were good and on target. Others...not so much. Some of the information was incorrect. I thought at first it was because of the time it went to print. Turns out, some of the opening hours/days never actually existed in the first place. I'm not sure I'd purchase this guide again.
I bought this to Lear where we should eat while in Venice. It didn’t help. We didn’t even use the map. Our hotel gave us ones and they highlighted the routes.
Well chosen list of places to visit with a sufficient amount of information about each one of them
I like this book because it is easy to throw in my purse, has a great map and hits all of the important spots to see with minimal detail.
WOW! This is the best ever for touring. I ordered another book first - all about the history of Amsterdam. But this? SO MUCH BETTER! Maps, reviews, ideas - all great!
