Seriously, I expected a book about Texas etiquette. What I found was a hilarious book about Texas and Texans in general. I had never heard of the author, but when I mentioned him to two more-or-less sober Texans, they forgave my ignorance and explained the writer was extremely well known and loved in Texas and even had campaigned for governor. He covers such things as hair-dos; how to know if you are a redneck, good ol' boy, or an oilman; famous people who were Texans or should have been; how not to end a sentence with a preposition, Texas-style; urinating in public, etc. Classy stuff! If you cannot meet the man, at least you can read one of his books.

I'm a native Texan and remember Kinky Friedman's antics from my time in Austin and Houston. I left Texas 16 years ago, so I thought this would be a fun read because Texas really is different than the rest of the world - not necessarily better or worse, but definitely different. I read part of it and it was funny, but I don't remember anything I found laugh out loud funny. It's been sort of pushed to the back of the queue of books that I'm reading and I don't have any real idea of when I'll get back to it. It might be funnier if you didn't grow up in Texas.

Besides loving all things Kinky, I graduated from high school in El Paso, Texas... so I figured I needed to know the proper Texas Etiquette. Now I know it and I am better for it. The man is brilliant and he is funny and he is a special catperson... he loves his cats; and being an animal rescuer I(and the author of the BooCat Unleashed series available right here on amazon.com), I admire not just his politics and his humor, but the man himself.

Kinky had me chuckling out loud (COL) as he regaled me with his stories of his travels with the Texas Jewboys. He takes some very sharp jabs at Texas Oil Men which I found most amusing. There are a lot of clean jokes you can share with your grand children, that they won't understand! But, it gives you a point of reference with dealing with the pompous people of the world, be they from Texas or wherever.If you enjoy light humor from a bygone era, Kinky is just the author to provide it.

This was gift for my husband, we are new Texans. He loves it, stayed up reading it till the wee hours in the AM the first night he got it. He says it's hilarious and very entertaining. It's a good bathroom read he said.. So glad to make my hubby happy.

He excels at wordplay!

This is a good early Kinky Friedman book. I laughed out loud at some of the stories about lawyer Racehorse Haynes. There is definitely a chuckle or two for even the most sour of readers. It was definitely worth the money and is a good read

This is an incredible book. We so admire the writings of Reverend R.A. Torrey. In my personal journey, I first learned about rejecting religious systems that advocate good works as a means to salvation. I then learned about accepting Christ as Savior. But I would not surrender all to make Him my Lord. Here, Mr. Torrey presents accepting Christ as full Lord and Savior, forsaking my corrupt past nature, and surrendering all to Him. God's love which surpasses all human understanding, His total forgiveness, tenderhearted mercies, and loving kindness -- which in no way do I merit -- are now made real through the quickening or indwelling of the Holy Spirit in me. Wow! We finally embrace the comfort of not trying to do the impossible - by fulfilling God's will through our own self-will. All of my efforts on my own behalf have failed miserably. Rather, I have now allowed the Holy Spirit total authority to work. I rejected that in the past, probably out of fear of giving away my free will. What my wife and I have gained through the Holy Spirit is a different, total victory. I do not express that in pride, rather total humility.

Yes, I got out the tape measure and the text height is just shy of one and a half millimeters. Couldn't read it even with my glasses on. This review is not for the book itself, just the printing of it as I am unable to read it and have no idea if the book is good. I received it today, saw the font and immediately went into Amazon and got a refund. That was easy, they were cool about it. I just ordered the large print edition, so we will see what that looks like in a few days when it comes. Just wanted to let everybody who needs more than 1.5 millimeter size text know the deal.Just FYI, the reviews for both the large print and that tiny one are the same. So if you are looking at the one with his picture on the front, that is the tiny print one and if you click on reviews you will see this. But if you are looking at a blue book with a white dove on it that says large print edition and click on reviews you will also be brought to these same reviews and be confused when you see people saying that the text is too small to read when you are looking up reviews on a large print edition.

Not only is the original creation of the material universe attributed to the agency of the Holy Spirit in the Bible but the maintenance of living creatures as well.""The one thing that the eternal God demands of men is that they believe on Him whom He hath sent (John vi. 29). And the one sin that reveals men's rebellion against God and daring defiance of Him is the sin of not believing on Jesus Christ, and this is the one sin that the Holy Spirit puts to the front and emphasizes and of which He convicts men.""It is only through the testimony of the Holy Spirit directly to our hearts that we ever come to a true, living knowledge of Jesus Christ (cf. 1 Cor. xii. 3). No amount of mere reading the written Word (in the Bible) and no amount of listening to man's testimony will ever bring us to a living knowledge of Christ. It is only when the Holy Spirit Himself takes the written Word, or takes the testimony of our fellow man, and interprets it directly to our hearts that we really come to see and know Jesus as He is.""the Word is the instrument used in regeneration, but it is only as the Holy Spirit uses the instrument that the new birth results....No number of Bibles upon our tables or in our libraries will save us, but the truth of the Bible written by the Spirit of the living God in our hearts will save us."It seems to me that the thrust of this entry would be more agreeable to those who hold to Neo-Pentecostal theology (e.g., Chapter XX) rather than to Calvinistic theology. Those of Calvinistic thinking would more likely profit from The Mystery of the Holy Spirit by R C Sproul (which is also available in the Kindle format.)

The Kindle version of this book gets four stars for its clarity of the subject at hand. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone coming from a Christian (Protestant) community or organization as I have who never was able to fully grasp from church preachings what it is the Holy Spirit is or can do for you. It's easy to miss the importance of seeking the Holy Spirit in prayer just from hearing it talked about over the pulpit. This book teaches me more than any sermon ever has on this topic.It encouraged me to pray more, but not only to pray, but to pray with more understanding of why I'm praying and what I should be praying for.While this is a pretty easy to understand read, I suggest taking it one or two chapters at a time and reflect on what you've read. Read any scriptures that are referred to so you can get a clearer picture of what is being discussed. I personally have been enlightened so much by this book. A lot of my questions were answered about the works of the Spirit within us. I'd read scripture and understand what was being said, but I rarely would connect the dots in the Bible concerning the Holy Spirit. I thank the Lord for the understanding that I have received from this book.

Some of the answers are wrong!!, so don't rely solely on the answer key for grading. Concepts are described clearly, though dryly (not particularly engaging). Worked fine for an introduction to geometry for my 7th graders, reinforces algebra and problem-solving skills.

This is an excellent adjunct to the classroom book, providing explanations and examples that help clear up misunderstandings in my students. I used it with an honors level geometry student who had some difficulties, especially with proofs, and it helped her quite a lot. Her grade improved, and she was delighted. I liked that the information was well organized, the examples were thorough, and all problem answers were in the back.

I purchased this after my daughter started seeing a tutor for geometry. Normally a straight A student, she was really struggling with geometry. The title suggested getting a book, as her class doesn't use one. It's been very helpful, and should still be helpful when she's taking college courses. It's straight forward, glad we went with this book.

A great resource to get examples from as a teacher! It is also a good review book for students. I don't think this would work well as the sole method to learn Geometry. Khan Academy is better for that, but if you have or are taking a Geometry course this is a great support resource!

Love the layout of these books. Only docking a couple points because there are no solutions to the practice problems--just answers.

I always like Barron's work books. So informative and good practice problems. It was for my 8th grade child's self-study at home. Working perfectly.

Bought a bunch of these to review for an exam to become a math teacher. Very helpful.

I used this book to brush up on my Geometry, and boy, did it put me to work. What I liked about the book are the explanations of Geometric ideas, theorems, particularly the proofs. But this book will put you to work with all the problems that it has in it. Some sections are easier to finish than others, but once you get to the proofs, they'll take some time to complete.Overall, this book almost works like a text-book given the volume of material and explanations and practice problems. I highly recommend this book.

This book is excellent in explaining the concepts and steps in IGMP and PIM operations. The first six chapters along is worth the money, it gives you a confidence to go into any network and have a baseline understanding of how everything should work. They can improve on the chapters for M-BGP and M-ISIS to include more examples. That is, if you'd like to 'see it work' then you need to lab it out yourself and apply the configuration in the later chapters. For someone who does not have access to a lab it is definitely a draw back. But all in all, I have read over many documents from Cisco CCO and other vendors, but they dont do nearly as good of a job as this book.

Gave me a firm grasp and understanding of basic multicasting up to and including multicast routing across multiple ASes and domains.Best Multicast book I've read so far. I'd recommend this book to all my family and friends! Er... SP friends at least. =)If you're working on a multicast network, buy it.

Started working at a large ISP and needed to get up to speed on Multicast. This book helped but also recomend INE's CCIE SP video course.

Great Book for Beginners, will likely need more reading if you want to become an expert.

This book reads like a novel! I have read countless books on Multicast routing and protocols that can explain the technology, but this book goes further to make sure that the reader has an intuitive understanding that is natural to comprehend and regurgitate. This book is a must buy for anyone who wants to understand how multicast works at a fundamental level. This book will remain a Multicast Classic for years to come!

I have never understood multicast prior to reading this book. Yeah, the concept of it is easy but when it came to knowing how it worked and knowing the difference between Sparse and Dense mode, etc, I was lost. Well, after reading this book I can now answer those questions and many more. This book has open my eyes and inspired me to want to learn more about it. It is so easy to follow and understand and all topics are well covered and explained. It's a keeper.-Mario

This is a great book for really understanding how multicast works. It presents the technology from a vendor neutral perspective as well as its specific implementation in Cisco or Juniper networks.

This is the same book as: Richard Bandler's Guide to Transformation.I had the paper cover verision with the original name.I then bought the kindle verision because it is really a good book and I wanted to read it again when I fly.I was upset when I found out it was the same book with a different name but then I discovered it hada free DVD included that the original book did not. The DVD itself is worth more then the price of the book.In short I want everyone to know that this is not a new book but also to know this book does contain anexcellant DVD about rapid inductions that is more then worth the price of the book.I hope this helps all the best to my fellow NLPer's

Richard Bandler is an NLP legend and a very personable performer of his craft. I enjoyed the book and the techniques, if you found out what works for you, changing your mood or having happiness on a "tap" is really easy.

this seems to be a pretty lucid discussion of Bandler's work--and finally he has hired a proof reader! Not amazing (is there ANYTHING new in NLP?) but is a pretty good read. If you can get your hands on the often banned 70s "trance formations" get it. It will make a lot more sense, since Bandler is essentially trying to make a newer version in this book

Simply a wonderful book. It is more than worth the cost just to get the super DVD.In two words: Buy IT!Steve Austin
