Great read. I liked this storyline a lot. I did not however, care for the character Bud. He really got on my nerves. The author made him out to be immature and an idiot. Actually, a really immature and totally stupid idiot. He is a police officer, yet it was like he was incompetent to even understand a question. Maybe that was the authors intention. If so, then he over did it. Maybe the author was trying to make Buds replies funny. Not, Big Distraction and Nerve-Wracking! Other than that, this crime suspense mystery was worth reading.
This is the second Echo Rose book I read --the first one being the Hyder Ali book. I found the story entertaining and the eventual interweaving of several of the plot lines clever. I liked the personality of the characters from Ms. Rose to Bud & Skip (police officers) to the head of the newspaper Frank. The only reason I gave the book four stars instead of five was the abrupt ending and wrapping up of the story. Echo is funny and feisty and I look forward to the next one.
Wow...that was...The. Worst. Book. I have read in years. Strict!y amateur hour. I rarely do not finish a book, but after struggling with the first half, I gave up on this mess. I only gave one star because there was nothing less allowed.
This story, or plot line wasn't bad, but the writing consisted of non-stop short sentences. It was like reading an elementary school primer. See Jane. Jane has a dog. Very distracting from the story. It may be a good book for very young, very slow and unsophisticated readers.
Echo Rose: She chose a name which holds deep meaning for her. A "rich girl" who has only ever felt that she's an obligation to her parents, is trying to find something meaningful in life. Skip and Bud: homicide detectives, neighbors, and friends, attempting to solve the murder of a contractor. It's all intertwined.This was basically a good book that kept me interested, but the writing is stiff. If the writing had flowed easier, I would have flown through it in one setting, but instead it took me three days.
Another fantastic new series by this author. I loved it loved it loved it and cannot put it down. Can't wait to read the second book the rose tattoo. This is one of my favorite authors and hope that he never stops writing the series.
This is an interesting tale of murder, mayhem, and kidnapping. I could not decide how Thomas Flincham would tie the separate stories together, but he does it quite well. Some sections seemed slow, but my perception may have been reading too late in the evening.
The many narrative threads come together in a very finely woven tale of murder, friendship, abduction, parenting, greed and moral fierceness that all works out in the end.
