I just looked at my new 2019 Good Sam travel guided, which used to be called a campground directory. The name change is telling. It no longer lists Forest Service campgrounds and also other non commercial campgrounds. Many of the campgrounds listed show minimal information and no directions. Over the last several years this book has become less and less useful and this is probably the last copy I will buy.

This is not the book it used to be, very disappointed, NO AlphabetTabs, less of a book in the lady one IGave away, wish I had keep that book. Looking for other books which give more information. Now why should I even stay avGoid Sam Member!!?! VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!

This book is a beast. It's very much like a telephone book from a large city. Pages are thin like phone book pages, coupons are okay. Lists all info needed for each RV park in the USA. Recommended for people who are on the road travelers or people who are looking for new places to take their RV's that may be off their normal path.

I picked up this book to refresh and encourage me on MERCY. I wanted to more deeply engage in the concept of the Pope's focus of Mercy during this Jubilee year. I found the stories often made me cry, and the question from the start of the opening of the book - "When is the last time someone mistook me for Jesus" - continues to reverberate in my ears almost daily. This is an AWESOME way to walk through the corporal and spiritual works for mercy - which is really just a way of saying how do we LIVE MERCY in our daily lives. It did what I hoped for - it encouraged and refreshed me - but did more than that...It inspired me to renew my commitment to LIVING MERCY in my daily life.

Although this was not what I expected (a book written by the Pope himself) and because it is a collection of essays on various aspects of mercy as the Church understands it which means that some essays spoke more powerfully to me than others, this book is well worth reading for the gems it does contain that make you think about the many forms mercy can take as well as some startling examples of mercy in action from biblical times forward.

You'll enjoy this compendium of short yet thoughtful chapters by a wide variety of Catholic writers. Mercy, grace, forgiveness, and spiritual beauty are among the topics. A pleasant and I edifying read.

I'm admittedly very picky with the ending of my books. I had hoped the ending to this one would be worthy considering the reviews. Awww... I apparently expect too much quality in what I pay for and don't just accept lazy writing........I'm all for forgiveness and redemption in fact I was waiting for that in the book but to have him utter the words that he loved her and gave himself to Christ was all it took for her to trust him after all the abusive words he constantly through at her was a bit too easy...and a very lazy ending. I think it's silly writers have the woman always think to themselves how they know the man will never love them and that they are tired of the constant abuse and that they won't accept it any longer but then once the man says the magic words they want to hear they turn to jelly and lose their smarts and blindly accept them. Then the man just miraculously does a turnaround in behavior and comes the charming hero at the EPILOGUE of the story. For over 400 pages of the kindle story he's a complete jerk and then the last ONE page of the story he's the amazing hero. Awwww how sweeeeeeeeeeet. Why bother wasting space in a book of the woman's musings when THEY DON'T MEAN ANYTHING????????? Just don't bother with it since it will never amount to anything in the story.Like I said I'm glad he got redemption but come on even Christ doesn't say there won't be consequences and there should've been more consequence for his bad behavior towards her that never ever seemed to be resolved tot he very end. He didn't even have to fight for her!!!!!!!Writers needs to stop being so lazy when it comes to the ending of their books and actually make the ending worthy of the rest of the entire book. The author puts more effort on keeping the couple apart and never bothers to put any of that effort to the reunion.

For what its worth the Brides of Culdee Creek is the first complete series that I have read. That says a lot because I devour so many books and, believe you me, there are many series where I stop at Book 1 even though I may profess to enjoy the book. For me its hard to dive into a book two only to be disappointed and I often doubt that the author can recreate the magic of the first book.Well for some reason I exercised a little faith with this series and boy was I happy. Woman of Grace which is Book 2 in the series was as different, unique and special as Book 1. (Although I must say that Abby and Connor's story will forever hold a special place in my heart:)After reading Francine River's Redeeming Love I truly didn't know if any other story about the redemption of a prostitute would have been quite as engaging. Yet for it all Kathleen Morgan pulls it off expertly and while Hannah does bear a few similarities to Francine's Angel, the stories are quite different.STORY SYNOPSIS:Abby and Connor from Book 1 are happily married and expecting a baby. Due to a strange twist of fate Devlin is forced to depend on Hannah, the "whore" who he slept with during a rocky part of his marriage. Devlin uses every opportunity he gets to castigate Hannah for when he sees her, his transgression is ever before him and while his truly beautiful wife may have accepted that he was unfaithful there is no way that she needs to know that Hannah was the specific prostitute he slept with. Marrying the very willing Evan would make life very stable for Hannah for as Evan's wife she would inherit Culdee Creek and financial security for her and her baby boy would be sure.Forgiveness, humility and courage are major themes in this fantastic book as an unlikely but truly genuine romance develops between a couple of the main characters. Book 2 is truly worth a read!P.S. While reading Book 2 go ahead and get Book 3 and Book 4. I have and their reviews are posted as well:)

Considering the subject matter of the book, I thought the author did a really good job in keeping it clean and wholesome. You couldn't help but love Hannah and feel sorry for Devlin. Throughout the book, I could see the two falling in love.I thought the twist at the end was excellent as well. Devlin came to save Hannah, but...well, you'll just have to read it to see!Though some thought these first two books were a lot alike, I tended to disagree. Connor had a lot more hatred to overcome and was just a really rough and tough guy. I saw Devlin as ore of a teddy bear who'd made a few mistakes. He came around a lot faster than Connor did. In fact, reading this second book and how nice Connor was was almost frightening. He'd done a 360 degree turn. I think Ms. Morgan should have left him a bit rough...

I loved this book too. I always felt that during the 1800s that people were too harsh on women who worked in saloons. Granted, I wouldn't want to work that kind of work, but I always felt that God wouldn't judge too harshly if these women didn't know God's love. But I really love how Hannah changed her entire life around and worked hard to make a better world for herself and her son. I also felt that Devlin should have been more understanding of Hannah's plight even though he didn't quite realize that he was just at fault as Hannah was. I always felt compassion for those who suffered because of what they did in order to survive. So I really love this book.

As with any of Kathleen Morgan's books, I expect an enjoyable story more than some great work of fiction. As a result this book was exactly what I expected - A heart-warming story with characters you connect with and get to watch grow and develop. :)I enjoyed watching continuing involvement of the characters from the previous book in the series. As with the first book in the series, the Christian elements read more like a sermon at some points. I'd have preferred to see them done with a bit more finesse.I found some of the character reactions to be tiresome and unbelievable at times, which dampened my enjoyment, but overall I liked it and will undoubtedly read it again, though it's not a favorite.

Good book but a little superficial

Great help!

I have the kindle version of this book and while the content is adequate, there are a lot of spelling and grammar problems that are distracting. I was hoping for a little more in depth description of physiology. Also, a lot of the figures appear to be power point slides. Just for reference, I'm a graduating CVTS fellow going into a congenital fellowship.

“Oil and Marble” delivers what I like best about good historical fiction. By breathing life into iconic historical figures, Ms. Storey reminds us that history didn’t just happen, but is the product of very human preferences, choices, and actions. The story itself was gracefully written, but also thoroughly entertaining. As a bonus, I also learned about Italian politics and Renaissance art. I especially appreciated the author’s knowledge of the “mechanics” of art, which gave this casual art observer better insight into the artistic process and what makes art great. I highly recommend this book.

I am not an art expert but I do have basic knowledge. When I started to read this book I was afraid that Ms. Storey would not be able to bring these artists to life for me. I was afraid it would be solely a history story with rather wooden characters. How wrong I was, I now have new insights into these two great artists, they are no longer just names but living breathing men. This is a great read and I thoroughly recommend it.

I understand the need of historical fiction writers to take creative license in their works, but the way in which Oil and Marble recounts the lives of Leonardo and Michelangelo is not a “historical fiction,” it is a “fictional history.”For example, the author, Stephanie Storey, portrays Michelangelo as an unknown (almost naive), aspiring artist when he sculpted “La Pieta,” in Rome. In actuality, at that time, he was already recognized as a genial sculptor, and one of the most prominent artists in Florence.Also, the book suggests long-lived animosity between Michelangelo, and his father (as well as his family), as a result of his desire to be an artist. The reality is that, initially, his family opposed Michelangelo’s desire to become a painter and sculptor. Eventually, however, they accepted his powerful artistic drive. In fact, it was his own father who placed Michelangelo as an intern, at age 13, under the tutelage of Ghirlandaio; a highly reknowned Florentine artist. Hence, the endless pages claiming a lifetime of abuse and rejection endured by Michelangelo at the hands of his family do not make sense, whatsoever, and are unbearable to read.Likewise, Michelangelo did not always live as a destitute artist before he sculpted the David, as the author suggests. In fact, Michelangelo was adopted by Lorenzo de’ Medici, at around 16 years of age. Thus, he lived as royalty for the next four years until the death of Lorenzo.Equally misleading is the author’s narrative of an episode about a snow statue. According to Giorgio Vasari, Michelangelo’s biographer, he created a snow statue for Piero de’ Medici. Reportedly, however, the statue inspired admiration and awe, rather than ridicule and derision, as Storey incorrectly depicted. And, unlike she stated, this was absolutely not the reason he departed from Florence.In the same vein, there are a number of inaccuracies related to Leonardo.Storey indicates that “Oil and Marble is based on twenty years of research and grounded in real history...,” but she grossly misrepresents facts, and botches Italian words and phrases.She also states, “I have taken artistic license to tell the story of these two characters who have lived in my imagination for over two decades.”In summary, if you want to read about characters imagined by the author, you will be fine; but, do not rely on this book to learn about the real history of Leonardo and Michelangelo, including their lives, interactions, motivations, etc. Pure BS.

Having very recently returned from a trip to Florence I dipped into this book, hoping it would teach me more about the city and the artists of the Renaissance. I am so glad I did. I kept returning to the twenty pictures I had taken of David and experiencing with anticipation and frustration the setbacks, the insecurity, the disrespect suffered by Michelangelo. We know he was a genius, but in this book he is shown as a young man inflamed by his passion for sculpture who is almost consumed by his desperate need to create, to be acknowledged by his family and his city, with little else in his world except the need to turn marble into immortal art. Leonardo da Vinci is shown as older, more vain, more sophisticated, more complicated and complex and finally more interesting. Also a genius, his adversary is primarily internal. He never completes any project. He is already famous and recognized as a genius and in art mad Italy, he is constantly being saved from his own follies. His greatest adversary is his own mind. He has so many ideas,he is on the one hand remote from the normal pressures of life, and, on the other, intensely lonely, competitive, and obsessed with his questions, his engineering designs, his need to conquer flight, and his own alienation from his father. The rivalry between possibly the two greatest artists of the millenium and the coincidence that their greatest masterpieces, the Mona Lisa and David, were both created at virtually the same time in the city of Florence, is the tension within this book. As well some of the greatest artists of the Renaissance are supplementary characters. Some of the story is fiction, but the two men and their art are real and the writer has brought them both to life on the page.
