I'm almost finished with this book! It is a great read. In the first half of the book he just verified what I already knew from experience. Sometimes you need to see it spelled out and just laid out. I wish I would have had this book 35 years ago. My parents although well intended did not teach me how the world works and what people do. I could have avoided A LOT of heartache and pain I received by being preyed on by some purely evil people. Dr. Phil does an excellent job of describing the real way things are now. And also shows there is light in the world and how to come out on top without having to be a snake in the grass yourself to compete or deal with those types. I wish he had a version of the book written for teens and tweens. But I definitely recommend getting it yourself and then sitting down with the kids you care about and talking to them about all the stuff in this book in a kind loving manner. I can testify that he is on point with this book as a lot of things in this book I have dealt with personally .

I was not of a big fan of Dr. Phil, however I was a big fan of his spouse Mrs. Robin McGraw. When I was going through one of the rough patches of my life, it just happened to Robin’s first book “Inside My Heart” (2006) came out. It still is one of my favorite books that had sparked in me about the importance of taking care of you as a woman, wife, and mother … another review for another time. Back to the subject... Next I was again going through another rough patch of my life, it just happened to Dr. Phil’s “Life Code” (2013) came out. After I read the “Life Code”, I became a big fan of Dr. Phil. All contents of the book is extremely useful and true an eye opener.“Life Code” is a book may or may not help one to win in the “Real World” everyday for sure, but this book will definitely help one, at least, shed some lights on what he/she is doing wrong, who are these people he/she is dealing with, so that one can take steps towards changes, fight smart and get out of the victim mentality.I have been a life long bullying victim since my early childhood. I have never understood as to why I was always picked on even though I was not a weak individual by any means. I hoped for my life will get better as I get older. Nope, bullying got worse as I got older at my work places. As you read this previous sentence you might think that something could be very wrong with this individual. Yes and No! I used to think that “Everything will be good, because I am a good human being, I have very good values, I am an extremely hard worker and I always help others and care about others” etc. Indeed, it is all true about me. I probably am one of the nicest, kindest and caring persons one will ever meet. But THAT IS the PROBLEM!If you are TOO nice, naive, generous, forgiven, people pleaser and sensitive, there are so many “Vampires” everywhere. I call them “Vampires”, because they have cold hearts and try to suck the life out of you for their benefits and progresses. You are nothing to them. They take advantage of you and try to control and manipulate you for their successes. They want to accomplish what they want at any cost, it does not matter if you are a nice person, a hard worker, an honest individual or have a difficult life or may be living under poverty line and you need that check to pay bills and feed your starving kids, or you are sick and has been ill for a long time. They will squash you down to get what they want in the “Real World“. Many of these kinds of “Vampires” are in power and accomplish what they want. They are everywhere! They want to be in control and they want power and money.“Life Code” The New Rules for Winning in the Real World exposes about the “Life Codes and Rules”, that provides tools and arsenals to fight with the cold-hearted, malicious and manipulative life suckers. The book consists of two parts:Part I reveals about who are these “Bad guys” and how to spot them. These “Bad guys” have" core traits, characteristics, strategies and styles" that uses to bully, use, manipulate “Good guys” in marriages, at work places, and even at churches. They are everywhere. Most importantly this part helps you identifying the people with “Evil Eight” characteristic or the “BAITERS” (B-Backstabbers, A-Abusers, I-Imposters, T-Talkers, E-Exploiters, and R-Reckless). Again, the all content is extremely useful and truly an eye opener.Part II addresses issues of "Stop Being a Target and become a Victim, most importantly “Your New “Life Code” and Rules for Winning in the Real World. The last topic of the Part II tackles a topic on “Parenting in the Real World.”“Parenting in the Real World” section can itself be a great book. I believe how individual is raised has great impacts on his/her future life ups and downs. This section provides information on “Not Crippling Your Own Children”, “How World Really Works” and “Raise Adults”. Based on my own experiences, most of the damages, as who I am today, are done when I was young. My family had instilled in me good old Buddhist/Christian values such as being humble, compassionate, giving and sacrificing, dedicating yourself to the welfare of all others, karma, forgiving and loving your enemies, be always apologetic if you done wrong and on and on. In addition, as a young person, I intensely studied and followed what says in Dale Carnegie books (How to Stop Worrying and Start Living and How to win Friends and Influence People) which told me nothing about the malicious “BAITERS” and beneficial "LIFE CODES” of the real world. Of course these books were written for a long time ago, when people had decent values, and moreover honest hard working people are recognized and appreciated. Finally, I truly believe that Dr. Phil shows that he is an extremely generous person at heart, just by writing this book. Contents of this book may be somewhat verbose and repetitive at times or it has poor editing works etc. yet his messages about the harsh reality is in it. He did convey his messages! Sure there were many self improvement and development books such as “In Sheep’s Clothing” and “Too Nice for Your Own Good”. But I love this book, because it is very simple to read and follow. The only drawback is this book has NO INDEX! I pre-ordered this book and have a hard cover version, no e-version. Given the usefulness of material, and the fact the book should be used as references and learning tools for one’s ongoing self-improvements, it has no index is regrettable! Perhaps it is rushed to print out… All in all, an excellent book! If you gone through similar life experiences of what I went through and what I am still enduing, you will know how useful and true is everything in this book. People who was used, abused, manipulated and their hope and dreams are crushed by the BAITERS will learn something from this book! People who have BAITERS traits will give a 1 STAR for this book and find nothing useful. Thank you very much, Dr. Phil !Lastly, I am a non-native speaker who is trying to improve my English day by day, if you see any typos or grammar errors, anything annoying, verbose or obscure, it is an Amazon review, not an academic paper, please understand. Hopefully the above review conveyed my two-cents on “Life Code” by Dr. Phil McGraw.

Surprisingly informative...well thought out and a must for yourself and your children...young and old in today's world. I'm not a big fan of self-help books, and I wouldn't categorize Life Code as one of those books. It's just full of insight, experience, and helpful advice about those that surround us everyday.

This review is for the quality of the actual physical book, not the subject... the pages are litterally out of order and missing. Pages 28-76 are missing. Then after pages 77-124 it starts over at page 78.

I love Dr. Phil and Robin. I wish I'd read this book when it first came out, but as the saying goes, " better late than never". I have been saying that the ways certain people operate has been different over the past 15-20 years, but I couldn't quite pin point what was going on. Dr. Phil has helped me make sense of so much and I am so grateful. I trust Dr. Phil because he seems to "practice what he preaches". I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to live a value based life in the midst of a culture that seems to have lost its moral compass.

Wow.Terrific book.Great summaries about the "problem" people you are likely to encounter - how to spot them, how to not become fodder for this mill.I was putting so much highlighting at the "Ah Ha!' moments that the whole section was becoming highlighted. That's how good it is.And totally TOTALLY on target about what it takes to succeed - or at least not get totally stampeded - in the workplace. For years I couldn't figure out why I ended up being the one at work who "did all of work but got none of the credit" - read tons of books and tried everything,Now, thanks to Phil McGraw, I see exactly what I have been doing completely wrong, and I am determined to fix it.Not a parent so I admit to kind of glossing over that section but what I read seemed spot on too.If you want to hear about how everything in your life is someone else's fault and have someone to feel bad for you while you explain why things can't change, then you won't enjoy this book. But if you want the Real Skinny from someone who knows how to get to the point, and you want to make meaningful changes to your life, then YES, get this book, read it thoroughly, DO the checklists and get cracking.

Drags for miles... was he paid by the word? I am a huge fan of Dr. Phil, but this book is painful to read. The audio book... painful to listen to. If you have ever heard an infomercial that spends 30 minutes talking about what it is going to tell you, then you will understand what I'm saying here. The book could be summed up in a few pages, with I will say, great material. The rest is ridiculously long winded, blow hard filler.Dr. Phil. Great message. Horrible delivery.

I think this book does a wonderful job taking readers through biological, cognitive, and relationship changes during adolescence. I was really impressed by the inclusion of the latest research modifying Piaget's theories. I agree with other users saying this book was repetitive, but sometimes the repetition was the topic as viewed from different perspectives (ex: Baumrind's authoritative parenting and how it applies to education-teaching, education-administrative policies, education-poverty-stricken neighborhoods, education-self esteem issues, education-hormonal changes, etc.).I would have given it four stars, except that the author tends to loose objectivity when discussing hot-button topics such as homosexuality, abortion, and contraception. Otherwise, a very enjoyable book!

This book was needed for one of my classes to become a high school teacher. It has useful information and is a good reference for parents or teachers. The author does really well in the first few chapters, but I lost some interest in the middle/late chapters. I still read the book, for my class, but the most helpful information is in the first few chapters.

Bought it for school. Rarely used it. But when I did, it explained everything I needed to know in the clearest way possible

Very well written and engaging. I enjoyed it. Great insights on adolescence! Good read for every parent of a preteen!Easy, enjoyable read.

I had to get this book for a course and even though I did not use it a lot of the time. I was able to still get a lot of information from it and it came in on time.

Great book. I bought it for college. It was very interesting. Great author.

EXCELLENT BOOK FOR PARENTS

My professor required this text for Adolescent Psychology and drew almost directly from the sections for quizes/exams. The chapters were really thorough and explained concepts and terms in bold with mini glossary-style definitions when necessary. The photos with captions were supplemental to the chapters. It's nice to have a required book to read that is actually written in an interesting way and keeps you engaged in the reading.

A Tale for the Time Being: A Novel

Review

“An exquisite novel: funny, tragic, hard-edged and ethereal at once.” —David Ulin, Los Angeles Times “As contemporary as a Japanese teenager’s slang but as ageless as a Zen koan, Ruth Ozeki’s new novel combines great storytelling with a probing investigation into the purpose of existence. . . . She plunges us into a tantalizing narration that brandishes mysteries to be solved and ideas to be explored. . . . Ozeki’s profound affection for her characters makes A Tale for the Time Being as emotionally engaging as it is intellectually provocative.” —The Washington Post “A delightful yet sometimes harrowing novel . . . Many of the elements of Nao’s story—schoolgirl bullying, unemployed suicidal ‘salarymen,’ kamikaze pilots—are among a Western reader’s most familiar images of Japan, but in Nao’s telling, refracted through Ruth’s musings, they become fresh and immediate, occasionally searingly painful. Ozeki takes on big themes . . . all drawn into the stories of two ‘time beings,’ Ruth and Nao, whose own fates are inextricably bound.” —The New York Times Book Review “Sixteen-year-old schoolgirl Nao Yasutani’s voice is the heart and soul of this very satisfying book. . . . The contemporary Japanese style and use of magical realism are reminiscent of author Haruki Murakami.” —USA Today “A terrific novel full of breakthroughs both personal and literary. . . . Ozeki revels in Tokyo teen culture—this goes far beyond Hello Kitty—and explores quantum physics, military applications of computer video games, Internet bullying, and Marcel Proust, all while creating a vulnerable and unique voice for the sixteen-year-old girl at its center. . . . Ozeki has produced a dazzling and humorous work of literary origami. . . . Nao’s voice—funny, profane and deep—is stirring and unforgettable as she ponders the meaning of her life.” —The Seattle Times “Beautifully written, intensely readable and richly layered . . . one of the best books of the year so far.” —St. Louis Post-Dispatch “Masterfully woven . . . Entwining Japanese language with WWII history, pop culture with Proust, Zen with quantum mechanics, Ozeki alternates between the voices of two women to produce a spellbinding tale.” —O, The Oprah Magazine “Forget the proverbial message in a bottle: This Tale fractures clichés as it affirms the lifesaving power of words. . . . As Ozeki explores the ties between reader and writer, she offers a lesson in redemption that reinforces the pricelessness of the here and now.” —Elle “A powerful yarn of fate and parallel lives.” —Good Housekeeping “Ozeki weaves together Nao’s adolescent yearnings with Ruth’s contemplative digressions, adding bits of Zen wisdom, as well as questions about agency, creativity, life, death, and human connections along the way. A Tale for the Time Being is a dreamy, spiritual investigation of how to gracefully meet the waves of time, which, in the end, come for us all.” —The Daily Beast “As we read Nao’s story and the story of Ozeki’s reading of it, as we go back and forth between the text and the notes, time expands for us. It opens up onto something resembling narrative eternity . . . page after page, slowly unfolding. And what a beautiful effect that is for a novel to create.” —Alan Cheuse, NPR’s All Things Considered “Superb . . . her best and most adventurous novel to date . . . likely to leave readers feeling its emotional impact for a long time to come.” —BookPage “Magnificent . . . brings together a Japanese girl’s diary and a transplanted American novelist to meditate on everything from bullying to the nature of conscience and the meaning of life. . . . The novel’s seamless web of language, metaphor, and meaning can’t be disentangled from its powerful emotional impact: These are characters we care for deeply, imparting vital life lessons through the magic of storytelling. A masterpiece, pure and simple.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review) “An intriguing, even beautiful narrative remarkable for its unusual but attentively structured plot. . . . We go from one story line to the other, back and forth across the Pacific, but the reader never loses place or interest.” —Booklist (starred review) “Ozeki’s absorbing novel is an extended meditation on writing, time, and people in time. . . . The characters’ lives are finely drawn, from Ruth’s rustic lifestyle to the Yasutani family’s straitened existence after moving from Sunnyvale, California, to Tokyo. Nao’s winsome voice contrasts with Ruth’s intellectual ponderings to make up a lyrical disquisition on writing’s power to transcend time and place. This tale from Ozeki, a Zen Buddhist priest, is sure to please anyone who values a good story broadened with intellectual vigor.” —Publishers Weekly   “An extraordinary novel about a courageous young woman, riven by loneliness, by time, and (ultimately) by tsunami. Nao is an inspired narrator and her quest to tell her great grandmother’s story, to connect with her past and with the larger world is both aching and true. Ozeki is one of my favorite novelists and here she is at her absolute best—bewitching, intelligent, hilarious, and heartbreaking, often on the same page.” —Junot Díaz, Pulitzer Prize winner and author of This Is How You Lose Her   “A beautifully interwoven novel about magic and loss and the incomprehensible threads that connect our lives. I loved it.” —Elizabeth Gilbert, bestselling author of Eat, Pray, Love “A Tale for the Time Being is a timeless story. Ruth Ozeki beautifully renders not only the devastation of the collision between man and the natural world, but also its often miraculous results.” —Alice Sebold, bestselling author of The Lovely Bones   “Ingenious and touching. . . . I read it with great pleasure.” —Philip Pullman, award-winning author of The Golden Compass   “One of the most deeply moving and thought-provoking novels I have read in a long time. In precise and luminous prose, Ozeki captures both the sweep and detail of our shared humanity. The result is gripping, fearless, inspiring and true.” —Madeline Miller, author of the Orange Prize winner The Song of Achilles   “A Tale for the Time Being is equal parts mystery and meditation. The mystery is a compulsive, gritty page-turner. The meditation—on time and memory, on the oceanic movement of history, on impermanence and uncertainty, but also resilience and bravery—is deep and gorgeous and wise. A completely satisfying, continually surprising, wholly remarkable achievement.” —Karen Joy Fowler, bestselling author of The Jane Austen Book Club   “A great achievement, and the work of a writer at the height of her powers. Ruth Ozeki has not only reinvigorated the novel itself, the form, but she’s given us the tried and true, deep and essential pleasure of characters we love and who matter.” —Jane Hamilton, bestselling author of A Map of the World   “Profoundly original, with authentic, touching characters and grand, encompassing themes, Ruth Ozeki’s novel proves that truly great stories—like this one—can both deepen our understanding of self and remind us of our shared humanity.” —Deborah Harkness, bestselling author of A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night   “I’ve long been an admirer of Ruth Ozeki’s work, and her exquisite, richly textured novel, A Tale for the Time Being, marks the stunning return of a writer at the height of her powers. Seamlessly weaving together tales of the past and present that are equally magical and heartbreaking, she transports us to the worlds of Nao and Jiko, in Japan, and Ruth, on a remote island in British Columbia, where their worlds collide as they reach across time to find the meaning of life and home. . . .  A wise and wonderfully inventive story that will resonate through time.” —Gail Tsukiyama, bestselling author of The Samurai’s Garden

While I am liking the book quite a bit, the Kindle edition is so frustrating. There are footnotes on every other page--both Japanese terms and French quotes which are translated in the footnotes. I tried to bookmark the footnotes page, but they are arranged in such a way as they can't be easily accessed. I even went to the library to find the paper version of the book as a reference. It is impossible to read on my Kindle! That is taking so much time of the enjoyment away from the book that I am forcing myself to finish it.

This is a story-within-a-story. One is the account of Nao, a 16-year-old girl who is yanked out of her comfortable life in California to return to Japan when her father loses his job. In between her suicidal thoughts, she decides to write the story of her grandmother, the Buddhist nun. The other is the story of Ruth, a novelist living with her husband on an island off the coast of Canada. One day a Hello Kitty lunchbox washes up on shore, possibly from the 2011 tsunami. It contains a collection of artifacts, and an account of Nao's life. With Ruth, we are drawn more and more into Nao's story.I am stingy with my stars, but I am awarding this one five stars. Both stories are enchanting, and we care as much for one as the other.Nao defines a time being as “. . . someone who lives in time, and that means you, and me, and every one of us who is, or was, or ever will be.”It is a book that will stick in you memory for a long time. I plan to reread it in a year or so.

A Tale for Time Being by Ruth OzekiTime is defined as "the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole." But a definition cannot begin to capture what time feels when you have to live through it. Through this PhD program I have wrestled with the concept of time. There is never enough of it. It either passes too fast, or too slow. Reading this book was extremely lethargic, for the main characters, speak of time often.Nao, the sixteen-year-old girl who's diary is the center of this story, explores what time means and how frustrating it can be. Her diary is for a time being, "...someone who lives in time..."; this book is meant to be read, for we readers are time beings. It is not often that you find a narrative that looks to explore this conception of time and does it so well. I have to say though, the plot line is heavy and it took me awhile to finish reading this story. And by awhile, I mean several months. It is not a book that one devours, just like Ruth (the other main character) did not devour Nao's diary in just one sitting. In A Tale for Time Being, there are two stories being told side by side, with one narrative's character addressing the other one. Nao writes her diary addressing the person who will find it and speaks to them as if they were already a part her life. At some points you aren't sure who needs the other more, is the writer needing the reader, or is the reader needing the writer? The juxtaposition of reading both the perspective of the writer and the reader, while yourself being an additional reader is trippy. It plays well into the themes brought up throughout the book, particularly the theme of time. Because time passes by differently for the writer, the reader of the diary, and then you the reader of the book. There are three different timelines, but everyone is centered on Nao's story.I was most stricken by Nao's definition of "now". Nao explains "now" as: "...in the time it takes to say now, now is already over. It’s already then. Then is the opposite of now. So saying now obliterates its meaning, turning it into exactly what it isn’t. It’s like the word is committing suicide or something." This blew me away because she's hitting the nail on the head. Can we ever capture the now? As I am typing now, it is already then. Is it futile to attempt to capture the now, when it will always be the then? Is even trying to capture the now not allowing you to experience the now?The theme of exploring the conception of time resonated with me. Time is as elusive as the wind. You can feel it happening, but you can neither touch or see it. However, both wind and time can have physical effects on the world, and you can feel them both passing by. Time is also something that we all have to experience, regardless of how short or long we remain on this earth. However, it is not often enough that we appreciate time for what it is. Our time is limited; we only have so many heartbeats to be had, so spend them wisely."In reality, every reader, while he is reading, is the reader of his own self. The writer’s work is merely a kind of optical instrument, which he offers to the reader to permit him to discern what, without the book, he would perhaps never have seen in himself. The reader’s recognition in his own self of what the book says is the proof of its truth." —Marcel Proust, Le temps retrouvé

I think this novel could have been wonderful--the concept of it really interests me--but, I found the writing unimaginative and contrived. Parts of the plot were intriguing enough for me to slog through to the finish, but given the ending, I wish I hadn't wasted my time. I've read several books about quantum mechanics, and I've read quite a bit about Buddhism, too, but I can't accurately tell you how the author dealt with these things because I kept skipping over whole paragraphs and pages because I found them far too boring and unclear. Giving this novel just one star is pretty harsh but I'm trying to offset the many, many five star reviews. This book's popularity baffles me! It is NOT good literature!

This book really pulled me in. Other reviewers mentioned the end being confusing, but if you hold space and time a little bit loosely, it makes sense. I wasn't annoyed like some reviewers by the middle aged writer with a writing block. I felt she was very human and I could relate to some of her experiences. I loved reading the diary of the girl in Japan and her memories of her great grandmother. I actually enjoyed this book so much that I looked at the bibliography to get more ideas of what to read next. Women Living Zen: Japanese Soto Buddhist Nuns was one of these books and I started reading it next. I really enjoyed the character of the great grandmother who was a zen nun living up on the mountain. The Women Living Zen book is really fascinating and delves more deeply into the history of how these nuns lived and still practice today in Japan. Another book that the author of A Tale for the Time Being, Ruth Ozeki, praised is Where the Dead Pause and the Japanese Say Goodbye by Marie Mutsuki Mockett. I really enjoyed this book as well and it complements some of the Japanese culture and background, including zen practice.

I bought this book originally for my daughter, but reading her copy I liked it so much I had to buy one for myself. Shauna Niequist has an amazing gift to take the ordinary things we experience in everyday life and help us to see that they are truly extraordinary and worthy to be celebrated. She is incredibly honest and artistic also in crafting her short vignettes. This book has inspired me to live with my senses more attuned to the beauty and blessedness of each day.

I love Shauna Niequist. I really do. But this isn't my favorite thing of hers. She has really come into her own over the past few years, ado this book from 10 years ago feels a bit underdeveloped and more like a collection of blog posts. I still love her, but wild recommend choosing something else to read by her if you're just getting on the Niequist train.

This nook had me constantly bllurting out mentally, "you too? I thought i was the only one!" Shauna is personable, kind, gracious, and at times, will make you laugh right out loud while staring into this book. Her celebration of the ordinary truly is a celebration from page on to the very end. You'll cry, you'll be restored, you'll want to pray and thank God, and come the last page, you'll want to flip to page 1 and read it all once again. So, thank you, Shauna - and to all you skeptical purchasers: just buy it, and dive into a book that will help you see life just a bit brighter.

O.k. so to be honest right from the get go, I am not into religious books. But I am what you would call "spiritual". It's a general statement that's important in a review of this book for one reason only: this book talks about God all the time.Because of the authenticity of her writing, I was ok with the fact that she has a slightly different way of approaching her spirituality than I do. Once I crossed that bridge in the beginning chapters, I was in awe of her. Some of her stories I think will change my life. Perhaps lean me into a direction that is a little bit more of who I really am.The way she contemplates her life is so complex, thoughtful, touching, riveting, hilarious, intense, vulnerable and most of all REAL.The talent of this author has to do with her honesty about humanity. About the human experience. She is a fantastic authentic storyteller, and so each chapter is a chapter about her current life. Specific experiences that were either highly beautiful or very challenging, and she describes her process, her reactions and her meditations on each subject. How she made sense of it all.Reading her book is like being in her mind and looking at the world directly through her lens. Now that's talent. There were times I laughed and, truly, times I cried. There were times where I had to put the book down to reflect, because one of her stories impacted my own life so intensely.I would say that anyone who would not like this book would be those who are offended by her god. But I believe that is what balanced, critical thinking is about when it comes to reading ~ opening yourself up to another person's way of life. And leaving the philosophy in the book that is not relevant to your life, out.She does state clearly in one of her sentences that she equates extreme religious fundamentalism to things like environmental destruction, so I'd say that gave me some insight into her approach to religion in general. Those of you who hesitate because you're too liberal, too "un-church" going, too "alternative": just go for it. She'll touch you deeply if you keep your mind and heart open.

I loved how honest she was. I felt myself connecting with her in so many of her stories. Many times throughout the book I found me self relating to her feelings, thoughts and actions. But it has encouraged me to have a better perspective of my life-my house, my body, relationships. Great book!!

This book is a must read for all women. My husband jokes that we should just buy this book in bulk because I have bought 20 copies (no lie! I went through all my past Amazon orders and counted!) over the last 3 years - every time I order a new copy for myself I end up giving it away to a friend! Shauna's truthful and encouraging words were life giving to me 5 years ago when I read this book and still encourage me today. She has a fresh perspective on life that calls all women to rejoice in the stage of life they are in right now, instead of longing for the next. This book met me where I was when I was just out of college and wanting a better job than my minimum wage gig, when I had just gotten married and felt all alone in a new city and now in my new life stage of having a newborn. Her premise is that life is happening now and you can either choose to cherish and recognize each God given moment or anxiously long for the next and never be satisfied. Her words are insightful, inspiring and thoughtful. You won't regret reading this book!

After reading Bittersweet by Shauna Niequist I knew I needed to get a copy of this book too, and it has not disappointed. Shauna tells stories in ways that captivate the reader, and this book is especially lovely in how she truly does find those beautiful moments in every day life. While reading this book I've noticed more of the moments in my own life, too. If you aren't familiar with her writing, it might be nice to know that she writes small chapters so even if you only have five minutes before bed you can read a chapter and set it down until the next night (if you can set it down!) without feeling like you lost what was happening in the book.
